The Axamer Lizum - 19 kilometers from Innsbruck, the "Capital of the Alps" - is a meeting place for powder-hungry people from near and far.

Even pros like world tour rider Neil Williman, the freeskier from New Zealand, have made the "Lizum" their favorite area and regularly take part in contests like the OPEN FACES 3-Star Freeride World Qualifier. See photo above - Rider Neil Williman - Photo by Tom Platts.

With 300 hectares of open terrain and numerous north-facing slopes, the freeride hotspot Axamer Lizum also offers the best conditions for powder adventures of the highest order.

The snow guarantee due to the altitude provides the remaining and most important ingredient - powder. The world's largest ski resort portal - skiresort.de - has also recognized that the Axamer Lizum has a lot to offer when it comes to freeriding and has awarded it 5 stars in the freeride category. The most popular powder playground in the Innsbruck area has a lot to offer!

The freeride runs described below are only suggestions and not always feasible.
Activate GPS tracking! Pay attention to avalanche information! Never without avalanche rescue equipment! SOS - emergency call 112!

Without the right equipment and a risk management plan in your backpack, things can get dangerous off the marked slopes. At the Freeride Checkpoint, you can get an overview of the amount of new snow, the temperature on the mountain, open and closed ski routes, and check the function of your avalanche transceiver.

SAAC and "Freeridecamps.at" offer free avalanche courses on how to use the data correctly in open terrain.
