At the northern end of the large parking lot, the path first leads flat to the Schafalm; there is a small parking lot (space for about 10 cars). The large parking lot is chargeable for tobogganists and ski tourers during the winter season!
The toboggan run starts at the Schafalm: this first leads a short, steep section up to the ski slope, but then climbs up a pleasant incline and two wide loops through the forest to the Pleisenhütte. The hut is located at the valley station of the Pleisen lift and is therefore mainly frequented by skiers; during the lift operating times, there is a correspondingly large crowd here. When the sun is shining, however, you can also find a spot on the terrace in front of the hut.

The Birgitzer Alm is popular due to its relatively short distance from Innsbruck and easy accessibility, the moderate walking time (“Shall we go to the Birgitzer Alm quickly?”), the relatively reliable snow conditions and the friendly innkeepers. In winter 2010/11, it was the toboggan run with the most hits on www.winterrodeln.org. To call it the most popular toboggan run in Innsbruck is certainly not unfounded.
