Directly at the mountain station of the Olympiabahn, the entrance to the large slope of the Lizumer Grube is tempting. Depending on the line, you can enjoy between 200 and 300 meters of fresh powder on days with fresh snow. The end of the slope leads directly into slope 1 of the ladies' run. The slope is wide and expansive and usually tracks very quickly due to its easy accessibility. If you want to get an untracked line, you have to take the first run or hike along the ridge, parallel to the route of the Olympiabahn, approx. 50-80m to the northeast. This access to further lines of the Lizumer Grube is not very difficult, but a minimum of surefootedness and orientation is absolutely necessary.
The Lizumer Grube must be avoided at all costs on days with poor visibility. There are some steep intermediate sections which can be easily recognized and avoided when visibility is good. In poor visibility, these terrain traps are difficult or impossible to recognize.
Maximum slope inclination:
Short sections over 40°
Mainly between 30° - 35°
Difference in altitude: 200 - 300m
Moderately difficult descent
Only enter in good visibility!
